Thank you for a great Super Saturday!

Baseball Thank you

To the players, parents and extended families of Holland Baseball,

On behalf of the board, I would like to thank you for another successful Hit-A-Thon and Super Saturday.  We raised close to $20k dollars between the Hit-A-Thon, Dunk Tank and apparel sales.  These funds will go a long way to support our league through improvements to our facilities, and will provide for a more enjoyable and safer playing experience for our children and spectators.  Our goal as a league is to provide the best possible experience for our children to learn this great game, as well as the life lessons and values it can teach us all.

I also want to thank all of our volunteers for that day from the parents manning the apparel, to the students from Richboro Middle, Council Rock South and St Catherine Drexel who helped staff the bounce houses, popcorn, cotton candy and dunk tank stations.  I hope we can continue to support today’s young men and women by offering them opportunities to learn what it means to be part of a volunteer organization like Holland Baseball.

I’d like to recognize those players who competed in our Hit-A-Thon this year using our new points system to score the best hitters in each age group.  This was our first year of having an actual point system as part of the Hit-A-Thon to award those players who performed well during the event itself.

  • TBall – Owen Gavaghan (54 points)
  • Bambino – Joey Davison (80 points)
  • Rookie – Liam Briscoe (68 points)
  • A – Ethan Ferrara (43 points)
  • AA – Tie between Mason Wiener and Graeme Sajeski (36 points)
  • Continental – Nicholas Newmiller (44 points)
  • American – Zach Neeld (40 points)
  • National – Kyle Bruck (51 points)

These players should stop by the snack shack to pick up their prize for having the highest score in their age group.

Lastly, but certainly not least, I’d also like to recognize the top three players who raised the most for the Hit-A-Thon.

  1. Jimmy Clark - $805
  2. Ethan Ferrara - $571
  3. Aidan Judge - $505

Congratulations to all of our players on another successful Hit-A-Thon.  We hope those who participated had fun with our new scoring system and we will continue to find ways next year to make this event even better.

Thank you again to everyone who donated, participated and volunteered to make this day so much fun for our players, their families and everyone involved in the Holland Baseball Community.

Sincerely,

Andrew Sajeski

President, Holland Baseball

Shack Duties - Board Members

BOARD SHACK DUTIES & SCHEDULE

I'm sure you are all excited to see what nights you have drawn to be the board member on duty at the shack.  Please see below.  Quick note:  I have tried to schedule you on an evening you would have already been there whenever possible (impossible for a few of you).  Everyone has at least 2 shifts this season, some have more because you were going to be there anyway and no one else was.  If your night gets rained out, it disappears.

There are a few nights that aren't scheduled - as rainouts occur I'm sure those dates will be scheduled.  I'll again try to give those evenings to someone that was already going to be there when they are scheduled.

Responsibilities:
-Be around the facilities that evening
-Give your contact info / location to the shack staff
-Periodically monitor that everything seems safe (if you are coaching a game you will probably need to have someone else doing this for you)
-As the games are ending make sure everything is going smoothly

When things wind down make sure the kids complete the checklist
-Count cash, verify with shack staff, place deposit in the top safe, secure the starting bank in bottom safe
-Make sure the building is locked, staff is picked up

That's it.  Thanks for your help in advance.  Schedule is below.

Shack Duties - Teams

2016 Team Assignments to the Shack

This is not meant to be an additional duty of the manager - you are welcome to be the supervisor for your shift, but we encourage you to recruit a parent (or even assign all parents on your team to fill that role if your team is playing a game) so it doesn't just become something else for you to do this season.

The supervisor is NOT expected to spend the shift in the shack cooking hot dogs - we have kids who are filling that role during the shift.  The supervisor needs to be support for those kids so that if there are any issues they have someone to go to in an emergency and can provide an extra set of eyes to make sure the kids are working / not being harassed at the window.  There will also be a board member assigned to each evening.

Expectations are:
-Introduce yourself to the shack employees at the beginning of the shift and ensure someone has arrived to work / the shack is open
-Provide your name, phone number and field location on the white board located inside the shack - this should be the only time you need to go behind the counter unless there is an emergency
-Between innings keep an eye on the situation at the shack if possible from your location - not needed at all times, but periodically during the shift
-After your game identify yourself to the staff again and stay outside the shack to ensure a board member has arrived to help close out the shift (if a closing shift).  Monitor the situation in the parking lot / picnic bench area and inform staff when you are leaving if not a closing shift.
-Ensure all shack employees are picked up and the building is locked (if a closing shift)

When possible we have scheduled teams to supervise when they were already supposed to be at the fields.  In the event that your team's shift does not coincide with a game, it is a great time to schedule a practice - remember you do not need to spend the day / evening in the shack, just provide somewhere for the staff to go if they need help.

We need more volunteers in order to provide this safe amenity for our league and the shack adds to the baseball experience for the players and fans alike.  Thanks in advance for your help and support of this new program!  If you have any questions, please direct them to Devon Sajeski, dsajeski@crhll.com
